Cazenovia Animal Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care.
When the hospital first opened its doors in 1958, Dr. Fred Holmes was returning to his hometown where he grew up farming. Dairies and horse farms accounted for the largest portion of the practice’s business back then with pets a distant third. Dr. Fritz Koennecke, another local “farm boy” joined Dr. Holmes in the early sixties and the two grew the practice by providing quality veterinary care to farm animals and pets.
Dr. Denny Vrooman joined the practice in 1972 and brought with him much enthusiasm and new concepts for small animal (pet) medicine. At the same time, the area started to develop into a more urban community rather than a farming community and the pet population began to grow. Along with the growth the quality of veterinary care people sought for their pets changed too. Gone were the days of the “farm dog and barn cat” to pets becoming an important part of the family.
The three original partners are now gone from the practice but the values and ideals they built the practice around remains. Our five doctors and professionally trained staff are friendly, caring, and compassionate and will always go that extra mile in caring for your pets. We’re proud to give individualized service to each client and treat each patient as if they were our own.
